Stefanos Daskalakis was born in Piraeus in 1952. He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, in the Studio of Giorgos Mavroidis (1970-74). He continued his studies in Lyon and Paris (1978-81). He later attended Leonardo Cremonini’s Workshop at the Ecole Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris as a student. His works can be found in the National Gallery, in the Collection of the National Bank of Greece, in the Collection of the B & E Goulnadris Foundation, in the Telloglio Art Foundation of Athens, in the Kouvoutsakis Gallery, in the Sotiris Feliu Collection, in the Antonis and Azia Hatziioannou Collection, in the Thanasis Michaelidis Collection , as well as in other private collections in France, Belgium and Greece. In 2014 he was honored with the Prize of the Academy of Athens for his entire artistic creation.
He is married to Andrea Schroth and they have a son, Kostas.
He lives and works in Athens.
Ο Στέφανος Δασκαλάκης γεννήθηκε στον Πειραιά το 1952. Σπούδασε ζωγραφική στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών στην Αθήνα, στο Εργαστήριο του Γιώργου Μαυροΐδη (1970-74). Συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στη Λυών και στο Παρίσι (1978-81). Αργότερα παρακολούθησε ως ακροατής το Εργαστήριο του Leonardo Cremonini στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του Παρισιού. Έργα του βρίσκονται στην Εθνική Πινακοθήκη, στην Συλλογή της Εθνικής Τράπεζας της Ελλάδος, στην Συλλογή του Ιδρύματος Β & Ε Γουλναδρή, στο Τελλόγλειο Ίδρυμα Τεχνών ΑΠΘ, στην Πινακοθήκη Κουβουτσάκη, στη Συλλογή Σωτήρη Φέλιου, στη Συλλογή Αντώνη και Άζιας Χατζηιωάννου, στη Συλλογή Θανάση Μιχαηλίδη, καθώς και σε άλλες ιδιωτικές συλλογές στη Γαλλία, στο Βέλγιο και στην Ελλάδα. Το 2014 τιμήθηκε με το Βραβείο της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών για το σύνολο της καλλιτεχνικής του δημιουργίας.
Είναι παντρεμένος με την Andrea Schroth και έχουν ένα γιο τον Κώστα.
Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα.
